When you nominate a pharmacy, you are choosing the dispenser that should receive your NHS electronic prescriptions. It is a practical choice, and it stays under your control.

What does pharmacy nomination mean?

The NHS Electronic Prescription Service allows a prescriber to send a prescription electronically to a dispenser chosen by the patient. In everyday NHS App language, this is described as choosing or nominating a pharmacy.

Once a pharmacy is chosen, it can receive your electronic prescriptions until you change or remove that choice. This normally means you do not need to collect a paper prescription from your GP surgery before taking it to the pharmacy.

How to nominate Letter Box Pharmacy

  1. Select Nominate us on Post My Prescription.
  2. Continue to the linked prescription nomination service.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to provide the information requested and choose Letter Box Pharmacy.
  4. Review the details before confirming your choice.

Check the pharmacy before you continue.

Letter Box Pharmacy is listed at 4 Brick Lane, London E1 6RF, with Pharmacy GPhC Number 9012230.

What should I check first?

Before nominating, confirm that the pharmacy name and address are the ones you intend to choose. You can also check the pharmacy registration details shown on this website. If anything looks unfamiliar, pause and contact the pharmacy before submitting your choice.

Nomination is not the same as requesting a medicine. It tells the electronic prescription system where eligible prescriptions should be sent; your GP or prescriber remains responsible for issuing the prescription. See how to order a repeat prescription online for the ordering step.

What happens after nomination?

Future electronic prescriptions can be routed to the nominated pharmacy when they are issued. The pharmacy then follows its dispensing process. For a delivery service, parcel tracking only becomes relevant after medication has been dispensed and a delivery has been dispatched. Read our guide to how free NHS prescription delivery works for the full sequence.

If you have already requested a prescription while another pharmacy was nominated, that outstanding prescription may still reach the pharmacy that was selected at the time. Contact the relevant pharmacy or GP surgery if you are unsure where an existing prescription has gone.

Can I change my mind?

Yes. NHS guidance states that patients can change or remove a pharmacy nomination. Your choice should only be changed when you request it. For step-by-step options, read our guide to changing your nominated pharmacy.
